Yes. I am a bleeding heart liberal.

I don't know how this happened, but I have found myself surrounded with outspoken politically conservative people. I wish I knew how this happened. I have lived my life being (at least in my opinion) pretty moderate. But I did vote for Obama. So this makes me a liberal in popular opinion, I guess.

If voting and expressing what I would consider common sense, makes me a liberal, so be it. If believing that our environment is worth saving makes me a liberal, sign me up. If wanting a change from the status quo (and if your are being honest with yourself, you GOTTA admit, the status quo was pretty damn awful) makes me liberal, well... You get the picture.

I grew up espressing my opinion. I have a hard time keeping it to myself. You can disagree. But I guess I am a dirty hippie. (I was called that the other day.) And I guess it's time I embrace that. So there you go...

Yes, I am a bleeding heart liberal.

I guess...

  1. I've noticed this happen to me too, and I don't really think it was me changing, but the definitions.
All of sudden, if I thought maybe we shouldn't be in wars without a good plan and maybe gays should get the same rights as other taxpayers then suddenly I was an enemy of Republican party.
Somehow, the party I was part of and loved became a pool of hatred and "re-writing" the past and it's own rules-with some nice things as "be pro-life, except for arabs which we must KILL THEM ALL!" and "it's what Reagan would do" (90% of the time, it's not).
And don't get me started on "they're taking away our guns!" Bush did more to damage the 2nd amendment than Obama (who actually ADDED a few rights) has done.
I'm hoping to get lucky and see the "party of sacred tea" break off and maybe there can be a more moderate Republican party exist, but I doubt it.
(sorry about the rant, this is almost it's own blog post)
