I remember seeing LaVar Burton on Reading Rainbow and wondering what Lt. Geordi La Forge was doing reading books on PBS. To me, Burton will always be Geordi. However, his run on Reading Rainbow was so much longer and more influential. I was saddened to hear that RR has been cancelled due to lack of funding. Really? What a wonderful show that was. I hope to get my grubby hands on DVDs to show to my son. This is a sad day in TV. Well... At least for me. I can still sing the RR theme. Every word. Not to mention that Burton has been like a family member ever since I watched the pilot episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation with my Dad. I don't remember RR before that. He hosted the show from it's beginning in 1983. I hope to see re-runs kept in the line up.
Lt Geordi La Forge reads. And LOVES it. Nice. Too bad all good things come to an end.

They still play RR on PBS 39-3 (if you don't have cable) at 10am. Monty loves it!
ReplyDeleteAwsome! That was a great part of the kid's line-up on PBS and I would be sad to see it go away altogether.
